Always Evolving
‘Grow or die’ - a supposed operational mantra for business, based on the concept that it is the only option in order to survive growth (also referred to as the ‘grow or die lie’).
Over the last two years for many, growth was not an option. When managing the impact of the pandemic on every level was the only option, from clients to team members, suppliers to premises, the mantra became: evolve or die.
Having just celebrated my first anniversary as a CreateFuture team member, I have had a chance to reflect and realise that as a business, CreateFuture is always evolving…
A unique period.
Arriving at CreateFuture mid-pandemic was, like many who joined companies during that period, unique. No physical meeting, no office to set up a desk at, no new colleagues across the water cooler to learn how the business ticked. But quickly seeing the solid foundations built on the founders’ years of experience and clear ambition allayed any fears of joining in such an unstable and unpredictable time.
How could I help?
The question then came - what operational needs did the business have with such solid foundations and ambitions already in place? The answer was in operational evolution rather than revolution. From strengthening processes to reviewing and adopting new tools, to simply taking the burden of ops tasks to allow the team to focus on delivering their usual high standard of work.
I could not do any of this on my own and with the support of the growing team it has been a fantastic twelve months. CreateFuture has doubled its delivery team, grown its leadership team, added new clients to its roster, made progress towards becoming BCorp certified and dealt with the continuing challenges of the pandemic (and its fallout), whilst sustaining our Fun, Fast and Collaborative ways of working - internally and with clients alike.
The business continues to flourish and ambitions are high for the future. This is not because it has to ‘grow or die’, but because it is always evolving. I look forward to being part of the ongoing evolution for years to come.
